Love Me Tomorrow

Updated: Mar 8, 2021

Yesterday was a day that cards, candies, flowers, and other special "I Love You" gifts decorated homes and hearts all across America. My wife and I had to go to Wal-Mart and we still saw people grabbing these items and rushing them out to their "beloved" (read Song of Solomon 6:3) at 1:00 in the afternoon. And not that the other 364 days don't matter as much but like an anniversary or birthday, it is simply a special day to tell someone that they are "truly loved"...right? But what if we loved someone everyday like Valentine's Day? What if we woke up to cards, candies, and flowers telling us how much we are loved? The truth is that it shouldn't just be about these things but when something feels like it is missing in our everyday "love" life we gobble up the tangible supplements which unfortunately don't last very long and leave us only wanting more in the morning. So what is missing? It is "INTIMACY" or more importantly understanding what it means to truly be INTIMATE in a loving relationship with someone on a daily basis. In other words, a love with no "strings attached" or only "special dates" like Valentine's Day. Thankfully, we can study the characteristics and depths of INTIMACY with the help of God's Word and by His example of how He loves us faithfully and intimately everyday.😇 Here is a simple thought to help us encounter and embrace what true INITMATE love looks like on a daily basis. It comes from Jeremiah 31:3 and and Psalm 25:6; Jeremiah 31:3, The Lord appeared to me from ages past saying, "I have loved you with an everlasting love. With lovingkindness I have drawn you to myself and continued to be faithful to you. Psalm 25:5, Remember, O Lord, your compassion and your loving devotion, for they are from age to age, generation to generation. So where does it begin? A love that was already in place before we even knew that it was there. God can love you for eternity because His love for you has always been in place. He didn't need a Valentine's Day to declare it to you, He just needed love to already be in place period.🙌 And how could this be possible? 1 John 4:16, We know how much God loves us (See Romans 5:8 too). So we put our trust in His love. God is love and all who live in love live in God and God lives in them. God has always been so love has always been there too.💝 So remember, you may not have a card, candies, or flowers waiting for you tomorrow but you have something even better, something that will last beyond your lifetime and mine: knowing that no matter what day of the week it is, God is loving you just as INTIMATELY today as He did yesterday. And He will love you just as much tomorrow too!
